DJEBEL SIROUA
MOROCCO ON HORSEBACK: Circuit on horseback from Anezal, 62 km south ouest of Ouerzazate, to Tourtite.
Duration: 8 days/7 nights - 6-day circuit on horseback
Day 1: Welcome at Ouerzazate airport. Night in hotel.
Days 2 - 7: Circuit on horseback. 5 nights in bivouac. Return to Ouerzazate in the early afternoon by the road to Tazenakht.
Day 8: Transfer to Ouerzazate airport and return flight.
DESCRIPTION
Country of saffron, the volcanic massif of Djebel Siroua links the High Atlas and the Anti-Atlas. This wild region offers a large variety of exceptional landscapes : terrace cultivations, rocky massives, deep canyons et green valleys contribute to unparalleled beauty. The trek all along the vulvanic chain with highest point at 3305m leads us through many villages and sheepfolds of the important tribe called Aït Ouaouzguite, famous for its tales and carpet crafts.
PROGRAM
Day 1 - Flight to Ouerzazate, welcome at the airport, transfer to hotel de la Palmeraie in the city centre.
Day 2 - Anezal - Tamllakoute
After breakfast, transfer to Anzal, starting place of our ride. Meeting with our hourses and the logistic team. After Assignment of horses to the riders we are entering the valley of Anzel wadi which we are going along to the village of Tamllakoute, then we are heading by a path to our first bivouac.
Day 3 - Tamllakoute - Amezri
We are taking a proper track to let our horses accelerate the pace before crossing the village of Tinzaline and progress in a much more arid environment to Tizgzawine. Picnic next to the village. In the afternoon we are heading up to Djebel Merzoug before reaching Amezri plateau. Beautiful view on surrounding mountains. Bivouac on the plateau.
Day 4 - Amezri- Talat n'Mdist
Today the next part of our ride leads us up to Siroua summits through the village of Ait Tigga dominating the wonderfur valley of Ait Semgane with its terrace saffron cultivations. We are climbing while taking advantage of the view on all the Berber villages scattered along the valley and passing a small pass.

In the afternoon we are continuing to the famous and high pass of Tizi n'Anzommer (2732m) - Panorama extends to the whole massif- then down by very steep paths of shepherds to our bivouac in Mdist valley.
Day 5 - Talatn'Mdist-Azazougzane
We are progressing by a beautiful track in a mountainous and desert landscape which is very rich in medicinal plants because of the presence of Berberes who collect a lot of medicinal plants sold on souks all over Morocco!!!
We are riding down again by a nice narrow path to the wadi. Amazing view on Iriri gorges, short stop in water, a real pleasure for our horses, and up again to our picnic place at the foot of Djebel Tazoulte.
After our break, we take a fews steps on a path before joining a track which leads up to the pastures of Azib (= sheepfolds) Azazougzane, our bivouac place.
Day 6 - Azazougzane - Anmid
Today we are riding over green pastures from Azib to Azib in an exceptional rocky landscape with relaxing breaks here and there !
Down again to our picnic place among shepfolds.
In the afternoon , up again to Tizi n'Ait Qalla and a breathtaking panorama on the typical extended village of Anmid. Bivouac in the village.
Day 7 - Anmid-Amassine
Last breakfast in nature and on the way to Agrilaoune before riding up a large trail dominating beautiful Berber villages nested in the steep sides of the mountains. By trails and tracks we are finishing our trek by a last gallop . Picnic break and return to Ouerzazate by minibus.
Night in Hotel la Palmeraie in Ouerzazate.
Day 8 - Transfer to Ouerzazate airport and return flight.
